About The Kingsville Parade
Who We Are:
We are located in Maryland, love our country, and love the opportunities and freedoms it has given us! Our community-led parade honors the freedoms America has given us and seeks to provide a wholesome, family-friendly celebration. The Parade is presented under the auspices of the Greater Kingsville Civic Association and the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company. All Parade workers are volunteers, and the Parade is entirely self-sustaining through the generosity of individuals, local merchants, advertisers, and corporate sponsors. Contributions can include cash donations, display and patron advertising in the parade booklet, band sponsorships, and in-kind contributions from merchants and corporate sponsors.
The Parade’s modern incarnation began in 1980 when several members of the community joined together to reestablish a parade honoring the birthday of our nation. Since that time, a dedicated group of volunteers work year ‘round to plan and run the Parade.

A typical day at the Parade begins at the triangle formed by the intersection of Belair, Jerusalem and Bradshaw Roads with a pre-parade show featuring various
local musicians, dancers, clowns and others. The Parade itself begins with the presentation of the colors, the Pledge of Allegiance and the playing of the Star Spangled Banner. Frequently, in recent years, the National Anthem has been enhanced by a fly-over of A-10 Thunderbolt jets from the Maryland Air National Guard.

The Parade itself typically features a diverse group of entries that includes marching bands, military units, antique cars and tractors, area volunteer and paid fire companies, local school and scouting groups, equestrian units, religious and civic groups, elected officials, political candidates, every kind of powered vehicle, and local merchants, just to name a few. Entries may compete for cash awards and trophies.
Each year’s parade is geared around a theme nominated by an area elementary school student, who is always an honored participant in the parade. Also, every year, a well-known local person is named Grand Marshal in recognition of long-standard service to the community.
